FAQ

Where is the ranch located in Texas?

Rockin’ King Ranch is located in the most beautiful part of King County with elevation changes of 300’ plus. You can check out the amenities of the ranch under “Lodging” on our website.  Detailed directions, a map along with driving instructions will be given to you at booking with your welcome package.

 

 

Where are the nearest Commercial and Private airports?

The nearest commercial airports are Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport and the Abilene Regional Airport.  Both are approximately an hour and a half drive to the ranch. You can rent a car at the airport and drive to the ranch or we do offer pick up and drop off for $250 round trip. Please request this service when booking your hunt. The nearest private airport is in Knox City, Texas or Seymour, Texas which are only 30 - 45 minutes from the ranch, and we can pick you up.

 

 

When is the best time to come?

Whitetail hunts are run by the State of Texas and specified hunting season for King County Texas.  Exotics can be hunted at anytime but some animals are limited due to antler shedding.

 

 

Is a deposit required to reserve a date?

A 50% deposit is required on all hunts to secure the date and are non refundable.  This deposit secures your date, with  some species there is limited hunting season so it’s very important to secure your hunting dates.  Your reservations will be confirmed via email.

 

 

Can extra hunting days be purchased during the hunt?

Yes if not conflicting with other booked hunts.

 

What is the cost for a non-hunting guest?

The cost is $150/day for non-hunting guest that will share a room with you. If they need a private room, the cost is $250/day. This price includes lodging, meals and drinks.

 

 

How much is a Texas Non-Resident Hunting License?

Refer to Texas Parks & Wildlife website  for the cost of a Texas Non-Resident Hunting License for whitetail.  You can purchase your hunting license in advance by calling Texas Parks & Wildlife at 1.800.895.4248 or on-line.

 

 

What time do I check in and check out?

Check in/out is flexible based on your hunting schedule and will be confirmed at booking.

 

 

What items are not included in my hunt?

State of Texas hunting license, taxidermy, meat processing, transportation, gun rental (if needed), ammo and tips for guide and field staff are an additional expense.  Tips average 10% of your total hunt but are at your discretion.  Basically if the staff provided you a great hunt tell them thank you at the level you feel happy with.

 

How much should I expect to tip?

10% is a good average and again is at your discretion based on your hunting experience.  All the staff is excited about having you at the ranch and want you to make memories that will bring you back year after year.

 

 

What should I bring?

Regular hunting gear based on time of the year plus your gun/bow, ammo, binoculars and scent cover up is always a plus.  Some reminders for summer time are sunscreen, insect repellent and snake guards/boots.  Winter time be sure to have warm clothes for those cold mornings and evenings.

 

 

Do you offer video recording of the hunt?

We don’t personally provide the equipment but will be glad to assist recording the hunt with your equipment.

 

 

Do you offer meat processing?

No, but we schedule the delivery at no charge to a local processor.  You will be able to talk with the processor and have the meat packaged just as you request.  At that time you will provide shipping information and payment.

 

 

Do you offer taxidermy?

No, but we schedule the delivery of your trophy at no charge to a local taxidermist.  You will be able to talk with the taxidermist and have your trophy mount done exactly as you request at the end of your hunt.  At that time you will provide shipping information and payment.

 

 

What to expect on my hunt?

We offer hunting from ATVs, Jeeps with high seats, blinds and always up for a good stalk!  We are here to make this an amazing hunting experience.  We are here to help the kids bag that first trophy in a blind or help you stalk down the trophy whitetail or exotics you have been dreaming of.   At all times you will have a guide with you to assist you in obtaining your trophies and ensure a perfect hunting experience.

 

 

What should I wear?

Camouflage is recommended and Bow hunters extra clothing coverage is recommended.

 

 

Will I be able to check my rifles sites before the hunt?

After arriving and getting settled in, we will have you shoot at the range to make sure your sites were not moved during your travel.

 

 

How can I pay for my Invoice at check out time?

You may pay with cash, debit card, cashier’s check, company or personal check, American Express, Visa, and Master Card. There is a 3% processing fee on all credit and debit cards.
