History

FreightEx Freight Services has a parent company that has been around for 80 plus years. In 1933, Simonson Station Stores Inc. began when the Simonson family (same owners) got into the petroleum business with gas stations and travel centers throughout North Dakota and Minnesota. That company went on to become one of the Upper Midwest’s most successful and innovative retail petroleum outfits, and as it grew it provided a firsthand look at what a successful company should expect from its freight carrier.

In 2012, the opportunity presented itself for the Simonson’s to create an asset-based freight company FreightEx and house it in a facility adjacent to their largest truck stop/travel center. The fit was great for their customers, drivers, carriers, and their staff. Located right on the corner of Interstate 29 and US Highway 2, this location works out to be the perfect home base for FreightEx. Being at the Simonson Travel Center is great for offering drivers and carriers tons of nice amenities all in one stop.

Today FreightEx is a mid-sized carrier with an incredible fleet of new Kenworth tractors with a large number of reefer & van trailers. In addition, they work with hundreds of independent carriers who have gone through the rigorous FreightEx approval process and that meet the same high standards for equipment and personnel. FreightEx serves all 48 of the contiguous United States as well as Canada. FreightEx is committed to on time delivery, as well as the safety of their loads and their people. They truly feel they have some of the very best drivers and employees in the freight industry. FreightEx also has a reputation of being the fastest paying freight brokerage in the area.
