Tithing<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-62dc379 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"62dc379\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"p1\">Although the grace of God is free, nevertheless the Church has material needs in this world. One of the precepts of the Catholic Church is to \u201cprovide for the needs of the Church.\u201d (<i>Catechism of the Catholic Church<\/i> #2043)<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span>It is the duty of the Faithful to supply the material needs of our neighbors and to support our local parish, each according to each\u2019s ability.<br><br><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Tithing is the practice of giving a portion of one\u2019s income to the Church.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>The word \u201ctithe\u201d literally means \u201cone-tenth.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span>The practice of giving one-tenth of one\u2019s income is tied to Abraham\u2019s donation to Melchizedek.&nbsp;<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b6d38c5 elementor-blockquote--skin-border elementor-blockquote--button-color-official elementor-widget elementor-widget-blockquote\" data-id=\"b6d38c5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"blockquote.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<blockquote class=\"elementor-blockquote\">\n\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-blockquote__content\">\n\t\t\t\tMelchizedek, king of Salem, brought out bread and wine. He was a priest of God Most High. He blessed Abram with these words: \u201cBlessed be Abram by God Most High, the creator of heaven and earth; And blessed be God Most High, who delivered your foes into your hand.\u201d <b>Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything. <\/b>\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-q-footer\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<cite class=\"elementor-blockquote__author\">Genesis 14:18-20<\/cite>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/blockquote>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a160db3 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"a160db3\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"p1\">While we Catholics are not obliged to give a definite percentage of our income, we are expected to give cheerfully from our livelihood, not just from our surplus.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-94575ce elementor-blockquote--skin-border elementor-blockquote--button-color-official elementor-widget elementor-widget-blockquote\" data-id=\"94575ce\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"blockquote.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<blockquote class=\"elementor-blockquote\">\n\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-blockquote__content\">\n\t\t\t\tEach must do as already determined, without sadness or compulsion, for God loves a <b>cheerful giver.<\/b>\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-q-footer\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<cite class=\"elementor-blockquote__author\">2 Corinthians 9:7<\/cite>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/blockquote>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7959d78 elementor-blockquote--skin-border elementor-blockquote--button-color-official elementor-widget elementor-widget-blockquote\" data-id=\"7959d78\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"blockquote.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<blockquote class=\"elementor-blockquote\">\n\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-blockquote__content\">\n\t\t\t\tWhen [Jesus] looked up he saw some wealthy people putting their offerings into the treasury and he noticed a poor widow putting in two small coins. He said, \u201cI tell you truly, this poor widow put in more than all the rest; for those <b>others have all made offerings from their surplus wealth, but she, from her poverty, has offered her whole class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The way you choose to make your gift is a matter to be determined in conversation with God.<\/p><p class=\"p1\">\u00a0<\/p><p class=\"p1\">As you prepare to give to Sacred Heart Parish, be sure to pray and discern with your family how much you will give.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Offer God your \u201cfirst fruits\u201d out of
